Clean fossil fuel heat and power plants - General information

Oxygen production

The air that surrounds us contains ~21 % oxygen. There are two ways to separate this oxygen from the air.

  1. Cryogenic Air Separation
    • Based on differences in boiling points of the different air gases.
    • A well developed technology.
  2. None Cryogenic Air Separation
    • Based on differences in molecular weights and molecular size of the different air gases.
    • Employs membranes or adsorbents.
    • Newer technology suitable for some applications.
